Poems and Songs about Colors

The Question:
Does anyone have poems or a little saying about each color?

Myrinda Ray Siciliani Dixon
I have this so old book Susan Perl’s “Color Wheel”. Each color has it’s own little despcription. The whole thing might be too much, but you could chose one line from each…like “purple can make you wonder”
Ashleigh Larkin-Pelafigue
I use the Frog Street Press songs.
Melissa McLaughlin Muralles
Just google color word songs kindergarten and you will find several different choices!!! 🙂

Katharine Vera Noble
Hee hee…. to the tune of Happy Birthday: G-R-E-E-N, G-R-E-E-N, I know how to spell green, G-R-E-E-N. Grasshoppers are green, caterpillars are too, I know how to spell green, G-R-E-E-N.
A little harder to do because it’s fast for kindies, but also to Happy Birthday: O-R-A-N-G-E, O-R-A-N-G-E, I know how to spell orange, O-R-A-N-G-E. Carrots are orange, and oranges are too, I know how to spell orange, O-R-A-N-G-E. Nyuk.
This song melts my heart — must have been my favorite when *I* was a kindie in Mrs. Kussmaul’s class. (She was AWESOME.)
Denise Baker Dillman
The ones that Cheri Smith listed are from Frog Street Press. They have charts with the songs and books with the songs too. (Of course you don’t have to have the charts or the books once you know the words and the tune… :>) My kids love these songs.
Mary Gross-Urbaniak
Donna Whyte- Sing Yourself Smart. ROY G BIV. Red is a color I like, red is a color I know, red is the color of apples and part of the rainbow. And so on….
Amy Ragozine Canterino
We use Roy G Biv. Each of the six K classes wears a Tshirt that is a color of the rainbow. Each of their classmates sign it and they wear them on the last day. Whatever class your color is we stand in that order and that particular class sings that part of the song.
Tammy Usher Allen
Frog Street Press has color songs for each color. They can be found on You Tube and are named for the color ie: The Red Song.
Melinda Bachman
I like Frog Street too. Used it for awhile before it went digital. Nice booklets as well for the colors and the songs are motivating.
